Perspective:
The viewing angle of most flat screen monitors can reach 180 degrees, which means that the paneled content can be clearly seen from any direction in front of the screen. LCD, on the other hand, has a different viewing angle depending on whether the technology is advanced or not. Most of the top brands in the market, such as Asus, Samsung, LG, etc., can achieve a viewing angle of 170 degrees, while some panels with wide viewing angles can reach 178 degrees, which is very close to the 180 degrees of CRT. Once the user's perspective exceeds their actual visual range during use, the color of the image will decrease, darken, and even turn from positive to negative. It is likely that people are confused by Philips' advertisements. In fact, the viewing angle of LCD is not very large, but much smaller than CRT, which is a clearly weaker area than CRT.
Visible area:
The visible area refers to the area of the screen that can be used to panel images in practical applications. Because the size of a CRT monitor is actually the size of its cathode ray tube, the portion that can be used to panel images simply cannot reach this size because the frame of the cathode ray tube takes up some space. Generally speaking, the visible area of a 17 inch CRT monitor is about 15.8-16 inches, while the visible area of a 15 inch monitor is only about 13.8 inches. But for LCDs, the nominal size is basically the size of the visible area, and the space occupied by the frame is very small. The visible area of a 15 inch LCD is about 14.5 inches, which is why LCDs look larger than CRTs of the same size. So when choosing an LCD, 15 inches is basically enough.
