Response Speed Of LCD Screen

Jun 08, 2024

The time unit for measuring reaction speed is milliseconds (ms), which refers to the time required for a pixel to transition from bright to dark and from dark to bright. The smaller the value, the better. The smaller the value, the faster the reaction speed. The response time of mainstream LCDs is above 25ms, which is not very important for general commercial applications such as word processing or text processing, as such applications do not need to pay too much attention to the response time of LCDs. And if it is used to play games, watch full screen high-speed dynamic images such as VCD/DVD, reaction time is particularly important. If the reaction time is long, the screen will show phenomena such as trailing and residual images.
For example, the vast majority of LCD panels on the market will experience varying degrees of trailing when playing with QUAKE3, especially during high-speed screen updates. However, CRT does not have this problem at all, as its response time is only 1ms and there will be absolutely no tailing phenomenon.
